FAIL!

Yesterday I promised you a weight update. Ooops. Fail! Sorry. Tomorrow definately.

I had Rugby coaching at Bees last night and I also had to shift the Play House in the yard, over a fence into the back garden. The Play House shift could have gone better, me and my mate Ski with wifey's help managed to get it on top of the fence, then just as Ski said "I've got it" it dropped off the top of the fence, nearly severing my little finger and belting Ski on top of his swede. No serious damage to me and Ski but I'll be doing a bit of DIY using No More Nails, Duck Tape and a boat load of screws on the Play House this afternoon.

The upshot to all of this is that I didn't get a chance to do my weigh in. The coaching went well though and I was jogging around pretty well with no signs of the achillies twingeing so I'll be back pedalling as usual on Monday.

Tonight is the usual start of the weekend Dodford trip for a swift few, then the weekly take out. I haven't been pedalling hardly this week as you know, so I seriously thought of giving the pub and the take out a miss. But wifey in her usual common sense way said that my routine is vital to this stuff and a morale booster of the pub and take out is just as important as the pedalling. And do you know what? She's absolutely right.

  1. How often do you schedule your weigh ins?

  2. Once a week Toby, I have a graph on the wall of my office that shows the progress. It's a good morale booster when I get plateaus or the odd upward blip (as I expect today) because the trend is ever downwards. Plus it keeps me motivated. I'd recommend doing something similar.

  3. Hello All, I agree a weight chart really helps for motivation I use a google docs spreadsheet that automatically refreshes onto my site http://unfitguy.com (any chance of adding me to fat biker links?). Let me know if its any use and I'll gladly send it you and talk you through setup on the web if need be..

Definately go out Clive its all about getting the balance right, and I don't think one more night will hurt especially seeing how far you've come. hope you are on the mend

  4. I've successfully dieted in the past and found that weighing myself weekly can be disappointing. I will be weighing myself fortnightly. If weekly works for you though, stick with it.

  5. No more nails and duck tape is a fantastic combo, if you can't fix it with either of those, well, its probably buggered ;)

Unfit guy is spot on with the whole Google docs thing, works a treat!

Hope the weigh in goes ok, don't be too put off if it isn't a loss, as you say, it will just be a blip in an otherwise downward trend :)

  6. Link added UFG.

Toby, cool, if 2 weeks works for you then brilliant. The secret is doing what works and we're all different.

I would say get away from the dieting mentality though. Diets start and stop. I know it's a corny cliche but what you're doing is changing the way (permanently) you do things. Otherwise when you lose whatever weight you think adequate you'll say yahoo I've done it, then shove your bike away and hit the kebabs again.

Been there, done that, seen the film, got the T shirt.

  7. You know, I don't diet. I make the sensible choice 9 times out of ten. but then I also weigh myself every day. which is a bit obsessive. I fluctuate by about 5 lbs and weighing myself everyday makes it easier to take that into account instead of getting peed off at a false gain and raiding the fridge. Well done on the maintain.
