Having a think...

Another pre Christmas meeting today here at work so no pedal. Again, looking at the state of the roads I ain't too bothered. Ice rinks every one of them.

This has got me thinking about the direction this relatively new weight loss through pedalling blog is taking. Is it just a daily pedal record, a commuting commentary, a motivational tool, a weight loss record, a daily diary or all of these and more? I don't know yet. For starters I haven't discussed food at any length at all. Be it in a "the way it was before" or in a "what I'm doing now" sort of way. I think the first thing is to decide an aim for this blog, because at the moment it's a pretty rambling discourse. Maybe that's the point? Dunno...

Moving on, my brother and his lad are visiting tonight to do the annual pressie thing, I don't see him too often and he always puts things in a bit of perspective. Although he is totally unaware that this is what he does. He is married, he was a trucker but 3 years ago he had what can only be decribed as personal disasters. His wife had 4 serious strokes (is there any other kind) and is now disabled and at the same time he was diagnosed with a neuralogical condition that causes blackouts. He obviously was stopped from trucking and so both my bro and his missus were immediatley unemployable. All this with a 7 year old boy a mortgage and all of the other modern day responsibilities.

The exciting news, well I think it's exciting, that I mentioned a few days ago is confirmed for the New Year. Again, all will be revealed in due course.

So tomorrow is the last day sat here and again there'll be no pedal as I have the last few client meetings. I have an appointment with the Docs Christmas Eve to have my 6 monthly BP check, I'm hoping that my weight loss will come as a nice surprise to him as he has no idea I've started this little fat to fit thing. I may show him this blog, it might spark a few ideas for him treatment wise, well you never know...

  1. I often wonder what the hell I do my blog for too (the biking one not the driving one) - I've come to the conclusion that its motivation for me and anybody else that reads it and joins in - its a bonus!

And good luck at t'docs - am sure it will be a big surprise!

Also, Help The Heros - my wifes uncle as planning on doing a ride from Bolton to Wooton Basset [sp?] as a charity ride - dunno wether this is the same one your doing - but I've said I'll do it with him if he's lacking motivation (he's only just taking up cycling).

Perhaps we could stop in Brum and pick you up along the way?

  2. Not the same ride Joby, the one I'm planning is a huge set event in France. The Bolton Wooton Basset thing sounds interesting, let me know when and I will do all in my power to schedule it in. Maybe as big training ride number 2. I'm planning next summer a pedal to my Mom and Dad's in Tywyn Gwynedd. A trip of 123 miles. So that'll fit nicely.

  3. Looking at the long term weather forecast this cold spell / icy roads are going to be around for a bit.
(Saying that, they're never very good at predicting what the weather will do tomorrow never mind next month!)

  4. I've only got tomorrow here at work then working from home until January the 4th. So I'll be oiffroading as from Thursday not commuting. Really looking forward to it. The tracks will ok to pedal.

  8. This could go on forever, do want a grid reference? If so I'll have to wait until I'm home and look at an OS map...:-)
