Just finished doing some stuff on my road bike. It was undamaged after Wednesday's little drama.
New tyres, new mini pump a bloody good wash and lube and some new bar tape. First time ever I've done bar tape. Not as easy as you'd think, it took me two goes to get it right! Either that or I'm ham fisted!

I've been wanting to change my bar tape for about a year now, but just haven't got around to it. I've never done mine either so I'm a little worried it will take me all day. I might have to contact you for some tips.

Keep it ast tight as possible, trim both ends to an angle so they lie neatly and mega top tip, try to copy how the original tape went on especially around the hoods so do one bar at a time!
ReplyDeleteAnd don't forget to wrap it so that usage tightens it not loosens it, the direction of wrap on the top is normally reverse of the bottom and the left and right are mirrors of each other....as you say not as easy as it would first appear!

ReplyDeleteNot sure if I mentioned it before but Fizik do really good Gel pads that go under the tape. Good choice on the Lezyne pump I really rate some of their kit especially those tiny self adhesive puncture patches. loving the blog but it might be handy to open the links in a new window, not sure how easy it is in blogger but if you need a hand drop me an email.
ReplyDeleteUFG, I've had a quick nose at the Blogger settings before to open a link in a new window and failed miserably, there doesn't appear to be one, which means I need to play with the HTML.
