Early senility...

I had a nervous ride in this morning, even though it was a quick one, maybe because I was a tad nervous it was quick? Who knows.

Stats here:
Started: 15 Jul 2010 05:38:40
Ride Time: 32:33
Stopped Time: 0:00
Distance: 11.86 miles
Average: 17.57 miles/h
Fastest Speed: 46.99 miles/h
Climb: 131 feet
Calories: 618

The reason for my nervousness, was that I got half way home yesterday and then realised I'd left my bum bag at work with all of my tools and puncture kit in there! What a knob head! As I was now not equipped for any eventuality I was absolutely certain I would have some sort of malfunction. Sod's Law works like that.

I got home ok as luck would have it.

And then I decided to chance my arm this morning and go for it anyway. It was torrential rain, very windy and we all know a wet surface encourages visits off the Puncture Fairy. But it would seem the little imp is still over the pond thankfully.

I am definately back in my rythmn now, I felt properly strong (all relative of course) for the first time this week and I kind of knew riding into the car park that I'd done a quick time, all the traffic lights were green for me too which helps.

Tomorrow may be an internal combustion engine commute. I'm desparately trying to negotiate not having to go to a meeting and do it via a teleconference instead. But the bloke running the meeting is a bit old school and something of a technophobe so I ain't holding my breath!

  1. "All the traffic lights were green"

    May I say: "Bastard".

    Thank you and good night.

  2. Miss Puncture spared me this morning. Though I make a habit of stopping to fill my coffee thermos at a shop about 1/2 mile from the office. Managed to spill hot coffee on myself while in the shop this morning. It soaked my riding glove which retained the heat for a few seconds and raised a small blister on my left hand before I could remove it. So maybe the mischief just came in a different form this morning.

Glad the rhythm is coming back for you and that tempting your luck didn't leave you stranded by the road side.

  3. That damn puncture fairy causes everybody trouble. Can somebody please capture him and lock him up? :-)

  4. Holy crap! Chesapeake Sailor and I live within a few miles of eachother! I've probably seen him out on the B&A riding with his bike club! Small world and all that jazz.

  5. I always assumed you knew each other, your ride maps always go over the same roads!

  6. Don't Ever Stop.

I hope you can convince him to do the teleconference. I wish those old school people would realize the benefit of doing things that make meetings more efficient and effective.

  7. Haha, chances are I've seen him quite a lot, especially last year when I was biking to work more frequently. He rides with a local bike group (that's the jersey he is wearing in the profile pic) and I see that jersey all the time. I just went to their website and they ride my bike to work path early in the morning and turn around on the bridge (pics 2-4 here) and on Saturdays they head down to the bagel shop (picture 5). Seems like a good group of folks and I might look into joining them and in the morning, just leave after the bridge and continue on in to work.

  8. There you go Stout, that's how the world works these days, it takes a bloke in England to get you together with a feller who just lives around the corner from you in the good old US of A!

    Progress eh?

@ Darryl, tell me about it mate, the man is a nighmare!
