Just beat the rain...

Did an East Side 20 miler in this morning, it was pretty grey but very still, which is fine as I'm rapidly getting bored of head winds! But it is persistently precepitating now I'm here at work. Phew...

The only incident of note was WVM trying to kill me at a set of traffic lights on the Moseley Road in Sparkhill. I was sat at the lights and he pulled right up behind me and narrowly missed me on overtaking me. I banged the side of his van but he went on his merry way without even noticing me I think. I wouldn't have minded but at 0620hrs there was only me and him on the road. He pays road tax so I guess he's entitled to all of the road! Wait a minute, in that neck of the woods I bet no-one pays road tax. Sod's law dictated that I'd forgotten to plug my Muvi in for recharge last night as I'd left it on my lid in the garage. I'm charging it and downloading last night's pedal as I speak. What a knob head!

Last night's pedal was pretty enjoyable, I did the cut, NCR5 and an extended Lickey loop for 17 miles, the towpath was pretty busy with pedestrians, cyclists and joggers but I expect that in the afternoon when the weather is fine. Usually a quick cheery "excuse me!" will have them moving over, but one girl who was jogging had the worlds biggest headphones on and she nearly jumped out of her skin when I pedalled by! I did chuckle. Here's the footage of that!

Now here's the thing, I was expecting to suffer after Monday's 50 miler, but apart from my usual aches and pains I'm feeling fine, my legs aren't tired, I'm not suffering aerobically and my mind is up for the battle. I wasn't expecting that at all. Another sign of progress perhaps?

  5. The canal boats that you passed on your ride, are they residential? Glad to hear your 50 miler left no aches and pains. What bike were you riding? Thanks for taking the trouble to share your ride with us, cheers.

  7. Ok fellers, just a few answers and comments from the above.

@Stout, thanks for the nice words about my City, I've heard Brum (Birmingham) called many things but never beautiful! I suppose it's nearest US equivalent is Detroit in as much as it is (was) very industrial with a once massive car industry. In ages past it was called the workshop of the world, but that was when we owned most of the world!

@ Les, you're a bad lad! I was going that quick only noticed her headphones!

@ Welshie, there are residential boats there but in Gas Street basin, which I didn't think comes out in the fil, the ones you saw parked up are normal "holiday" boats. I was pedalling my Ridgback MTB commuter.

@KFS Just for you, next time I'm passing I'll get the names of the places and post a link for each of them!
