Prep day...

Today is all about getting my bikes ready for the week commute. I may be using my Ridgeback more than my Giant as my Ridgeback seems to be giving me a better work out, suppose that's obvious really as it's a MTB all sorted for commuting and a bit heavier than my road bike.

We have a party to take Dan to as well, it's his mate Alfie's birthday today and there's a bit of a bash at the Scout Hut in Romsley for him. That's be 2 hours of E numbers and hysteria then...

We had a good time at Broadway Tower , the weather while very sticky was clear and warm. I think I chose the right time to pedal yesterday as I wouldn't have fancied doing what a load of folks were doing at the top of Fish Hill when we got there. The cafe appeared to be a checkpoint for an audax of some description, lots of people checking in on various touring type bikes dripping with sweat. Here's a pretty cool tandem I saw.

The views from the top were as good as ever.

Fay having a nose...

Looking south towards Broadway and the Vale of Evesham.

The tower itself, built as a folly to show off!

Here's a photo for Bruce of Coastrider fame. A cold war Royal Observer Corps Nuclear observation bunker on the hill. I know he likes his history like me!

A piccy of the bunker in relation to the tower. I think the tower people are going to make an attraction of it as there's some signs starting to go up advertising it.

We then bimbled down to Chipping Campden, which is an achingly pretty place. All rose covered thatch cottages and Limestone Walls. I think you'd have to work at it to find a prettier village in England.

Chipping Campden cottage.

Thatched Cottage.

Pretty eh?

I hope this week goes quickly as I've got the week after off. The kids are at school or at Nursery so it'll be a chance to do some non kid friendly stuff. Every parent knows what I'm talking about here!

  5. For a moment I thought you were doing your miles the easy way, on the back of a tandum!

I cycled past loads of people on an audax on saturday. I felt really sorry for them. They were huffing and puffing up this climb making it look really hard work. (They'd obviously been up several other climbs first!)
