Slime inner tubes.

I'm going to get some. Yet another puncture this morning coming in along the cut. I'm bored of them now.

Other than that I didn't see a soul and it was very pleasant.

No physical after effects from my 40 miler yesterday which is nice.

A few bits to catch up on, I fitted some Crud RoadRacer mudguards on to my Giant on Saturday. The shop fitted Giant ones were making a horrible noise and I couldn't shut the little blighters up.

The Roadracers were very easy to fit. The only issue was me cutting the "reusable" cable tie to free up the rubber bands to fit the stays to the fork, You need the cable tie to fix the mudguard to the brakes! Oops, that's what happens when you don't read the very helpful sign attached to the cable tie saying "do not cut, reusable cable tie". Lucky I have a shed load of cable ties in my tool box.

They look good, now I have to see if they ride ok.

Our Saturday bimble down the bridleway went very well. We collected quite a bit of hedgrow food which went into our meals on Saturday and Sunday.

Wifey and the kids got some horseradish, lovely with the Beef on Sunday. Some wild rasberries, which went with Icecream for dessert. Sorrell and watercress which makes a banging soup and finally some Elderflower, which wifey made into a very refreshing cordial which I did my level best to finish off quite selfishly yesterday after my 40 miler.

  1. Those green slime tubes dont work, save your money for better tyres.

Oddly stans sealant, which you put in tubeless tyres, works very well

  2. Hmm, was talking to a MTBer yesterday while fixing my flat, he swears by them, says he hasn't had a flat in 6 months since he fitted them and he was always getting punctures like me!

Now I'm confused...But that ain't hard in all fairness...

  3. I had slime tubes and they punctures 3 times in 2 days and then didn't reseal :(

  4. What I'm trying to say is that I agree with Red - they are crap.

  5. clive i put a 2 oz bottle of stans in every tube i buy and havent had a thorn puncture since...
we have lots of hawthorn hedges here and when cut atre a nightmare,
i ride with scrader (car type) valves so are removable to pour in slime...if a presta valve you will have to make the tinyest hole in the tube to get the bottle tip im then patch it...

  6. Slime tubes are pants!

I like Shwalbe marathon plus tyres :-) They weigh a ton but are almost impossible to puncture :-)

  7. Another vote against - my husband has slime tubes and came home with a puncture this week!

  8. PS - Sounds a fantastic feast on hedgerow food. And I'm very impressed by the elderflower cordial!
