Got my blood tests later at the Docs so I'm working from home. Let me just point out that even though I'm a ruffy tuffy, ex rugby player and ex squaddie, I hate needles. I don't look while they're doing the deed in case I blub.
My upper body workout could have gone better yesterday, I managed precisely 5 failed attempts at 1 pull up. 10 press ups, 10 crunches and I could hold a plank for 20 seconds.
Not as good as I was expecting, but I guess everyone has to re-start somewhere. It can only improve.
As is the Chapman custom we're off to the Dodford this evening for our usual start of the weekend celebrations. If you can think of a better way to start the weekend than a proper pub, real beer and beautiful countryside then please let me know!

In my teens I could do 100 sit ups on an angled bench. Doubt I could do 1 now.
ReplyDeleteI also hate needles. I used to look away but Ive had so bloody many now I can watch them okay, just still not like them. When I progress to Type 1 diabetes I'll have to self inject and REALLY not looking forward to that!
oh Clive, its probably not very encouraging, but I have never ever done a pull up! the rest of it... well, lets just say I have never thought about doing that kind of thing!
ReplyDeleteGo for it though, things will improve.. look at the cycling!
Hope the tests went ok for you
Hi Clive....have yourself an excellent weekend. I like that you've got a nice weekly tradition and the Dodford sounds like a great place to do it.
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm an ex-personal trainer who still does fitness consulting....if you ever have any questions about your workouts, just let me know.
All the best, my friend.
Darryl
It's surprising how weak the upper body is even though us bigger blokes have quite a lot of muscle.
