We had another load of snow last night so I was digging the car out and gritting the Crescent at 0645hrs this morning, then I had to take my daughter to school as the buses weren't running and wifey doesn't drive in snow. We set off at 0745hrs and I dropped her off at 0845hrs and I have only just got back. All the main roads weren't gritted, traffic was at a standstill etc etc etc. You know the score. Absolutely bloody ridiculous. 3 and a half hours to travel a 9 mile round trip. What the f*** are we paying tax for?
Rant over.
According to the met the worst is now over, so hopefully I'll be pedalling tomorrow. Let's hope so.

The roads were like that around here.
ReplyDeleteI was actually rather glad to be back on the bike riding past everyone stuck in the endless queues.
50 minutes for a 4 mile drive to work today. Joy of joys.
ReplyDelete1hr 40m for what is normally a 35 minute drive. Usually 18 miles but I must have done 25 as I tried several different routes before I found one not totally gridlocked.
ReplyDeleteNearest person to the office lives 5 miles away and it took him 1hr 30m!
According to the local news the roads weren't gritted as there was no snow forecast, seems a bit of a cop out, there was bits of snow falling this side of Brum almost all day yesterday - nothing major but hard to beleive they could be caught out so badly. I was OK, the main roads are clear enough to bike the 3 1/2 miles to work, but the wife had a nightmare on the school run.
